Austria’s oldest diocesan museum is located in St. Pölten’s former monastery of the Canons Regular of Saint Augustine and is also home to the monastery's library that boasts frescoes by Paul Troger. Numerous precious liturgical vestments are on display in addition to the sacred works of art dating back to the Gothic and baroque periods.
