"Eisbergspitze" (iceberg peak)
At 310 meters above sea level, the view extends over the rapeseed fields to the Alps.
Since 2022, the "Eisbergspitze" has been open and accessible to residents and visitors of the city of St. Pölten. The excavated material was used to pile up a small "iceberg peak" on which a pavilion was placed. At 310 meters above sea level, the view extends over the rapeseed fields to the Alps.
"A monotonous agricultural area has been turned into a beautiful and diverse paradise for people and animals. The area is inviting and offers opportunities for many recreational activities such as soccer or kite flying. Even with the lighting, attention was paid to energy efficiency. With this project, the provincial capital of St. Pölten shows what sustainable urban development can look like," emphasizes Mayor Matthias Stadler.
