City Park | Sparkasse Park
Sparkasse Park St.Pölten offers inner-city recreation as well as popular events in summer and winter.
Sparkasse Park was officially opened in 1884 as a place of civic representation and communication. Today it is a natural and recreational space and an eco-island encompassing 18,750 m² in the inner-city area.
A fountain and a monument to Emperor Joseph II (1886) are prominent features of the site. The park's fauna attracted the interest of the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF), which conducted a population survey. The horticultural redesign of Sparkasse Park, also known as City Park, has been largely completed and includes a medicinal plant and culinary herb garden.
Events in the park
For decades, the park has been used for a variety of events, most notably "Christmas in the Park" and "Jazz in the Park". The net proceeds from these events are donated to charitable organizations.
