St. Pölten is not only the provincial capital of Lower Austria, but also a place full of charm, history and local specialities. To give visitors and new residents the opportunity to feel like real St. Pölteners, the Austria Guides in St. Pölten are now offering a special course: the "St. Pölten Basic Course". This unique event combines a classic tour with interactive experiences and gives participants the chance to immerse themselves in the local culture.
What can you expect from the St. Pölten Basic Course?
The basic course is divided into four exciting topics, each of which sheds light on different aspects of life in St. Pölten. Each course ends with a tasting of typical St. Pölten specialities and thus offers a perfect mix of education and enjoyment.
All dates:
- 17.05. Enjoy like the locals: explore the delicacies of St. Pölten together with the locals. Where is the best place to go if you want to enjoy a good glass of wine or regional juices/coffees?
- 05.07. Spend money like the locals: Find out where and how the locals prefer to spend their money. From the best shopping addresses to the hidden treasures at the markets.
- 30.08. Hackl'n like the people of St. Pölten: Get to know the working culture and the most important economic sectors of the city. A look behind the scenes of the world of work in St. Pölten.
- 15.11. Celebrate like the people of St. Pölten: Discover the festive side of the city. Where and how do the people of St. Pölten celebrate? This course ends with a convivial get-together.
All dates start at 17:00 and the meeting point is in front of the town hall.
Final quiz and certificate
The last date of the year includes a special highlight: an evening quiz where you can test your newly acquired knowledge. The best participants will receive a diploma as a certified St. Pölten tourist - an honour that will make both tourists and newcomers proud.
Accompanied by the city's experts
The tours are led by qualified hippolytologists Mrs Radovan and Mr Chahrour, who not only share their historical knowledge, but also many personal stories and insider tips. They make every tour a special experience.
After the tour: cosy get-together
Every basic course ends in a cosy St. Pölten pub, where you can reflect on what you have experienced over a glass of wine or a regional beer. This cosy get-together also offers the opportunity to ask further questions and exchange ideas with the other participants.
