Capital City Wine 2025 "Bertha"

We are proud to present our new Hauptstadtwein 2025 - and this year there is a special novelty: for the first time, the Hauptstadtwein is being offered in a double pack. The Grüner Veltliner ‘Bertha’ and the Roter Veltliner ‘Sigmund’, both from the renowned Urbanihof organic winery owned by the Paschinger family in Fels am Wagram.

‘Bertha’ - a tribute to youthful lightness

The Grüner Veltliner ‘Bertha’ impresses with its youthful, delicate green colour. Its multi-layered aroma combines floral nuances with flavours of Granny Smith, ripe banana, candy floss and a hint of citrus freshness. A fruity-sweet finesse unfolds on the palate, which delights with a delicate herbal flavour and an elegant finish. ‘Bertha’ was chosen as the official capital city wine for 2025 and commemorates Nobel Peace Prize winner Bertha von Suttner - a tribute to the 120th anniversary of her Nobel Prize.

‘Sigmund’ - an expression of depth and elegance

The Roter Veltliner ‘Sigmund’, a true rarity from the Wagram, impresses with its golden yellow colour and intense bouquet. With flavours of yellow fruit, a fine acidity structure and subtle notes of honey and minerality, ‘Sigmund’ offers a finesse-rich elegance. Its silky texture and lively piquancy make it the perfect accompaniment to fine food. Named after Sigmund Freud, whose 130th anniversary of psychoanalysis we are celebrating, this wine stands for inspiration and depth.

Tradition and enjoyment combined

As every year, the capital's wines were tasted for the first time at the glamorous Capital City Ball. Now ‘Bertha’ and ‘Sigmund’ are available at the tourist information centre on Rathausplatz as well as in selected catering establishments and retail outlets in the city.
