Alumnatsgarten
A Tuscan garden in the centre of the Lower Austrian capital
Welcome to the Alumnatsgarten, the new green oasis in the heart of St. Pölten's historic city centre! Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty and tranquillity of this unique garden, which offers you an atmosphere reminiscent of the idyllic landscapes of Tuscany.
A paradise for nature lovers
The alumni garden extends over almost 2,000 square metres and invites you to relax and linger. With lovingly laid out rose beds, shady plane trees and a pergola, this garden is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Enjoy a break on one of the many seating areas while you admire the splashing of the fountain and the play of light and shadow on the paths.
A place of culture and encounters
The Alumni Garden will be an important venue for the annual cultural focus ‘Tangente’ in St. Pölten. You can look forward to smaller concerts, readings and other cultural events that will fill this place with life and joy. The open design of the garden with numerous entrances makes it an inviting meeting place for visitors from near and far.
Historical flair and archaeological discoveries
During the construction work, archaeologists came across relics from the Second World War, including bomb craters, helmets and parts of protective masks. These historical finds turn a walk through the Alumni Garden into a journey into the past and give this place a special depth and significance.
Barrier-free access and extensive facilities
The Alumni Garden is barrier-free and offers modern amenities such as a disabled toilet with changing table. The city gardeners who look after this wonderful garden have a new base here and ensure that the garden shines in all its splendour all year round.
A project with vision and heart
Thanks to the commitment of the City of St. Pölten and the vision of Building Director Wolfgang Lengauer and Mayor Matthias Stadler, the alumni garden has become a place that is accessible to everyone and should bring joy to the entire population. With a 99-year building lease and the support of the diocese, the alumni garden is a long-term gift to the city and its visitors
Visit the Alumnatsgarten and experience the harmonious combination of nature, history and culture. Discover your new favourite place in St. Pölten and let yourself be enchanted by the Tuscan atmosphere. We look forward to your visit!
